A federal jury in Los Angeles on Sept. 29 found two men guilty in a scheme that prosecutors say used real trucking companies to win shipping contracts and then steal the freight, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. Arshpreet Singh, 28, of Sacramento, was convicted of conspiracy to commit theft from interstate shipments and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Vikramjeet Singh, 31, of Fontana, was convicted of the theft conspiracy and acquitted of the wire fraud conspiracy count.
Prosecutors said that from March 2024 to June 2025, the defendants and co-conspirators bought or fraudulently used existing motor carriers, including Z&F Transportation LLC, which Arshpreet Singh purchased for about $22,000, and booked loads through brokers including Uber Freight. Electronics, appliances and other goods picked up across Southern California and in Grand Prairie, Texas, were never delivered, with estimated losses of at least $2 million.
The case involves established carrier entities rather than newly registered or impersonated ones, a distinction relevant to broker and shipper vetting. Sentencing is set for Jan. 20, 2027.
